Description

When faced with such an image of the Moon , we wonder , where to start ? The region shown in the image above presents many varied , interesting and unique features that can be regarded as a museum of lunar features we can see from Earth . Face , what stands out is the classic concentric crater Hesiodus A ( A in the image below ) located near the top of the image . With 15 kilometers in diameter that is one of the largest existing concentric craters on the moon , although the diameter of the inner ring is 40 % of the diameter of the outer ring and is very typical . What makes unusual is the presence of small peaks in the middle. Near Pitatus ( P ) is a fine example of having fractured crater interior, although it is uncommon. The craters fractured interior has a lower flood of lava terraces and show your walls , a central peak and a high and broken inside. The Pitatus is so flooded by lavas that it shows only remnants of both its peaks and its terraces and we can not tell if its interior is high or just flooded by lava . It may be noted that the neighboring crater, Hesiodus ( H ) is a miniature version of Pitatus . Moving to the interior with respect to the sea of the Moon , is a land dominated by ejecta . The Gauricus (G ) has a very smooth and unusual curved ring to the west and south . The Wurzelbauer ( W) is a crater within a crater , but not as a concentric crater, it appears to have been formed by a second impact occurred within a pre-existing crater. The Wurzelbauer has a rugged interior, but in the eastern part it is softer and is crossed by a groove . One can assume that the rough material in the ejecta W is for training or Orientale or Imbrium Basin , since it is similar to material found west . The rounded ring of G can be ejecta plastered , maybe the same material that cuts the W -shaped slot and satisfies G. Other material probably originated ejection of a bowl but totally different from these is the darker material in the form of depression in T. Finally we note small craters alignments between the W and T -shaped depression , these are probably secondary basins . Small clusters of secondary and associated with Tycho 's rays are easily visible in Pitatus but can be seen anywhere . In short , there is much history to tell about this little piece of the moon , a true open-air museum .
